Director of Nursing
Department: Emergency Critical Care (ECC)
Location: Buzzards Bay, MA

Director of Nursing needed for a busy 24/7 emergency and specialty veterinary hospital located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts with two locations; Buzzards Bay and Dennis. Candidate must be able to prioritize, organize and embrace the madness. Candidate must be fluent in coaching, budgeting and scheduling as well as have knowledge of general hospital organization.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Ensuring adequate nursing staff to provide excellent patient care including the interviewing, staffing and performance management of veterinary technicians.
* Work closely with Department Heads and the Medical Director to ensure excellent medicine with high standard of patient care
* Maintain respectful relationships with hospital personnel
* Support and coach technicians to advance their knowledge base and skill set
* Maintain hospital budgets
* Attend management meetings
Skills and Qualifications:
* CVT, RVT, or LVT preferred
* Five years of veterinary experience in an emergency hospital
* Five years of leadership experience
* A detailed knowledge base in veterinary medicine
* Advanced anesthesia and analgesia experience
* Excellent communication skills, time management, ability to problem solve, learn and handle multiple tasks
* Ability to anticipate and be detail oriented due to high level of patient care
* Must be an enthusiastic team player with a patient, and positive professional attitude
* Must be able to lift and restrain pets of at least 50 pounds and work on feet most of the day
