3 North is a 25 bed, Medical-Surgical unit providing care to a variety of patients: Renal disease, Liver disease, Respiratory failure, Tele, Minor Cardiac, Sepsis, Wound Care and Minor Surgeries. Part of 3 North is designated to camera rooms. This allows the unit to take close observation patients with the ability to provide extra care and supervision needed to keep the patients safe.
3 North RNs have a 1:4/5 patient ratio. The unit has a Unit Secretary and LPN during the day and CNAs both days and nights. There is always a Charge Nurse or Resource Nurse on the unit along with Assistant Nurse Managers, who if not on the unit, someone is on-call.
3 North takes great pride in their care for the patients with a focus on quality, safety and the patient experience. The unit works close as a team along with other departments to give excellent care. There are many Nurses who are Medical-Surgical Certified in this specialty area. This job is responsible for providing a wide variety of professional nursing services which focus on the provision of quality patient care consistent with Franciscan Health System (FHS) standards/values, applicable regulatory requirements and scope of practice for the nursing profession. Work also includes developing, implementing and assessing the patient plan of care during time of stay in collaboration with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and the patient/family. An incumbent is engaged in direct patient care, including assessing, planning, coordinating, evaluating and delegating work to members of the patient care team, and for providing education and consultation with patients, families, physicians and other staff members in implementing appropriate nursing interventions for optimal patient care.
Work is performed under standards of safety and care that provide instruction/guidance for taking care of issues and patient needs in the absence of a physician. Requires the use of judgment and critical thinking skills in making decisions regarding patient care (within the scope of practice), including knowledge and integration of available standards, resources and data, and in the efficient utilization of staff/resources. Work involves continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families, community agencies, patient care staff and management. An incumbent is accountable for the quality of care provided to patients, and has the authority to direct care, provide education, seek resources at the unit/department level, and delegate appropriate tasks.
Job Requirements: * Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, BSN Preferred. * Minimum six (6) months RN experience required. * One year of related work experience in an acute care setting is preferred * Current licensure as a Registered Nurse issued by the Washington State Board of Nursing. * Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification.
