Our Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities Services (or ID/DD) division provides both residential services and Medicaid assistance to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Edwin Gould operates ten New York City residential sites, each certified by the NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD). We are proud of our person-centered care model and our ability to work with individuals with varying behavioral presentations and diagnoses, including those who may have turned down by other programs.

Edwin Gould believes all of our individuals can be active, contributing members of society. We focus on community habilitation services as well as evidence-based strategies, focusing on the needs of each of our unique residents.

The ID/DD Registered Nurse oversees compliance with regulatory agencies, medical protocols and supervises staff assigned to the ID/DD sites. The work includes such services as participating in care conferences, health teaching, health counseling, referrals and providing care supportive to or restorative of life and well-being. The incumbent provides staff training in medication administration and basic health and medical policies and procedures. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Health and Mental Health Services.

Must be available to programs for triage 24/7.

Assists the Director in monitoring program effectiveness, including sound clinical assessments, planning, and compliance with department and regulatory guidelines in consultation with the interdisciplinary health care team.

Coordinates the development, implementation, and evaluation of health care activities at OMRDD sites; consults with nursing and medical consultants regarding clinical concerns and medical treatment plans; perform health assessments, when required; implements Health Care Maintenance Requirements as per regulating agency s standards.

Works with the health care team to provide well-coordinated holistic care; participates in care conferences, annual and semi-annual meetings, and interdisciplinary treatment meetings; acts as liaison between health providers and Agency; networks with community-based medical provider cultivates linkages and negotiates access to services.

Supervises the administration of medications; administers medications, when necessary; monitors reactions of consumers to medication regimes; reviews medication records.

Supervises health care activities; ensures that family and consumers receive health counseling and are engaged in setting goals; ensures that health counseling and case contact requirements are met, as mandated and required; takes measures to ensure that consumer s rights are observed and that access to benefits and entitlements is provided.

Participates in determining conditions and policies essential to delivery of quality nursing care to consumers; collaborates with OPWDD management staff regarding quality improvement recommendations; assist in the writing and/or revision of health care policies and procedures.

Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.

  • BCLS Certified with minimum of two (2) years social service supervisory experience with OPWDD adult population

Must be willing to travel to residential facilities and other required locations with such frequency as deemed necessary by EGSCF to address Agency needs using public transportation. Must be willing and able to lift up to 30 pounds during the course of work. Work requires evening and weekend hours, when necessary to meet ACS mandates. Requires the ability to perceive objects/persons by the eye with clarity of vision of twenty inches or less at distances up to 20 feet, and give and receive information through speaking and listening skills. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of self or others. Must comply with all public safety laws and Agency policies and report safety violations to appropriate supervisory personnel.
