Job Summary The Shift Resource Nurse is a registered professional nurse with responsibility and accountability for the coordination of clinical activities and patient care on various shifts. Develops and sustains an environment that promotes excellence in clinical practice and customer satisfaction, while striving for optimal efficiency and productivity of all resources. The Shift Resource Nurse utilizes the nursing process, leadership skills and current evidence based clinical knowledge to assess the health needs of patients, collaborates with health team members to coordinate patient care, anticipate outcomes of nursing interventions, and set criteria for the quality of patient care. Provides patient and staff education, clinical supervision, and anticipate unit-based activities (quality assessment, shared governance, scheduling, quality review, staff development in-services, etc.). Accepts responsibility and accountability for ethical/legal functioning. Provides supervision for staff members as charge nurse and assumes increasing leadership responsibility for professional practice on the unit.

Requirements Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN or BS in a health related field and a nationally recognized certification is preferred; Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland; Must possess knowledge of hospital policies and nursing policies and procedures and techniques within assigned patient care area. Cumulative experience must be a minimum of two years of acute care; Maintains current CPR certification; Must have broad based knowledge of clinical, psychosocial, and patho/physiological theories relating to nursing diagnosis and treatment; Possesses the ability to perform the range of nursing techniques found in medical surgical nursing practice; Must have knowledge of/demonstrate leadership theories, teaching skills and understanding of group dynamics.

Grace Medical Center (formerly Bon Secours Baltimore Hospital) is the first hospital built by the Sisters of Bon Secours in the United States. After 100 years of operation, the hospital is now a LifeBridge Health facility, along with a primary care practice and two behavioral health facilities in the West Baltimore community. Grace Medical Center offers emergency care, inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, renal dialysis and diagnostic services. Offsite locations provide primary care, drug treatment and outpatient behavioral health services.
