Hampton Behavioral Health Center is seeking dynamic and talented Psychiatric Certified Nurse Practitioner. Hampton Behavioral Health Center is a private behavioral healthcare center and offers the most advanced behavioralhealth, diagnostic treatment services for adults, adolescents and older adults in both inpatient and outpatient programs. We are looking for a full-timeAdvanced Nurse Practitioner /Physician Assistant to work Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm - 11:00 pmin our admissions department. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing medical evaluations and psychiatric assessments of incoming patients in collaboration with and under the direction of the Supervising Physician. This position performs duties according to standardized procedures which have been developed collaboratively by Hampton Behavioral Health Center administration, medical staff, nursing, Supervising Physician, and approved by the Medical Executive Committee and the Governing Board. ThePA is a registered nurse who possesses additional preparation and skills in physical diagnosis, psycho-social assessment, and management of health-illness needs. This position assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients, provides information to patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, and counseling. This position provides healthcare in a collegial relationship with physicians to patients at Hampton Behavioral Health Center.


  • Obtains patienthistory through interviewing and assessment of incoming patients.Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures as needed.
  • Makes recommendations to the Medical Director as to thelevel of care needed for each patient.
  • Provides anddocuments direct treatment and management of mental healthconditions.
  • Provides counseling and education ofpatients and their families/caregivers concerning mental healthconditions, treatment options and community resources when needed.
    Provides for the expansion of individualized mentalhealth services by diagnosing and treating certain mental healthconditions.
  • Performs patient assessments, recognizes and identifiespsychiatric symptoms and problems, and designs individualized patientaction plans.
  • Demonstrates and promotes collaborativepractice behaviors. Engages in activities that promote professionalgrowth and development to enhance processes that contribute toeffective, efficient and safe patient care.

  • Current APN license in the state of New Jersey
  • Current PA license in the state of New Jersey
  • Psychiatric Certification preferred
  • Minimum of one year experience functioning in a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant role.
  • Furnishing privileges and DEA license with the New Jersey Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychiatric illnesses including addictions.
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to manage patients health and illness
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, manage time, and prioritize work in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to be self directed, and motivated. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and effective problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
