The Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) seeks applicants for the position of Chief of Anesthesia at the Beth Israel Deaconess Milton. The ideal candidate is a nationally respected clinician with excellent clinical and interpersonal skills as well as prior leadership experience who will lead the division to further success.

Working closely with the Chair of the HMFP Department, the Vice Chair for Network Anesthesia and the President of Beth Israel Deaconess Milton, s/he will develop a vision and strategic plan to provide comprehensive, high quality, highly efficient anesthesia services that will support the mission of the hospital to improve the health of the residents of Milton, MA and its surrounding communities.

We are a 100-bed, non-profit, acute care hospital with general medical and surgical inpatient care. Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital - Milton (BID-Milton) provides high-quality, compassionate care before, during and after surgery with the help of a team of anesthesiologists from the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. The department is a recognized national leader in clinical quality, research and teaching.

Specific Skills & Requirements:
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate positive interactions with hospital administration, surgeons and nursing staff.
  • Excellent leadership and teamwork skills.
  • Experience in a private practice setting and a focus on both quality and efficiency
  • Excellent organizational and operations skills to facilitate the daily functions of a busy, complex operating room environment.
  • Candidates for this position must be eligible based on education and experience to be considered for an academic appointment on the Harvard Medical School faculty.
